My name is Michelle Bernier and I live in Rochester, NH. I am excited to be working with you and look forward to getting to know everyone better. I already see several familiar faces in this class. I teach at Spaulding High School alongside Tracy Mitropoulos. I teach in two seperate departments within the high school. I teach in the Family and Consumer Science department as well as in the CTE department where I teach Restaurant Management Level 2. It is challenging to say the least to teach in completely different areas of the school never mind the difference in the types of courses that I could teach in any given year.
I am very excited to be in this class at this time because I have been given the opportunity to teach a new course that I am very excited about. It is a class on Baking and Pastry. My intentions are to use this course to help me to develop this new class from the beginning with the objective of modeling it as a flipped classroom. It is a quarter-long class in which I have a lot I would like to teach them and to ensure that I am able to meet that goal the flipped classroom will allow for more hands-on learning in the classroom. I have been given several suggestions already and have a few ideas of my own, but please feel free to offer suggestions at any point as I welcome the knowledge and experiences of others.
I love to cook obviously, but I also enjoy traveling and have taken two trips to Europe with my students. I love to watch those students acclimate themselves to the new environment, language, and culture. I am excited for my next trip abroad as there is always a new story to tell upon our return.
So glad to be in a class with you again, Michelle! Have you made any more cooking videos?
